Diego Castillo-Barnes

PhD Candidate

Data Science and Computational Intelligence (DaSCI) research Institute
Department of Signal Theory, Networking and Communications

Telecommunications Engineer (5-years, which is equivalent to doing a graduate in Telecommunications Engineering plus a 2-year specialisation). I’m specialized in a mix of Radiocommunications and Telematics. Currently, I’ve started a PhD Degree at the University of Granada. I know it’s something completely different from my background but, as I always say, this project has something that no other job can fill. Apart from research in SiPBA group, teaching at the University and the research internships, I also collaborate with the Department of Medical Oncology at Hospital PTS (Granada, Spain).

I’ve got some experience in private sector, first co-founding INTESOFT (Instituto Tecnológico de Software Libre) and working there as a SysAdmin in 2013 and then supporting QuaiP Solutions as a VoIP Engineer and Virtualization. Later, I took part in some external projects but mainly working as a SysAdmin and VoIP Engineer for UT which was specialized in the implementation of PBXs solutions, Radio and IT services (SIP Provider, Networks, Radiocommunications and Advanced IT Solutions) until end 2016. Nowadays I’m in a PhD Internship Research in Cambridge (UK) where I’m working at Adenbrook’s Hospital (Department of Psychiatry) in the analysis and research of Inherited Alzheimer Disease through the use of advanced Machine Learning techniques.
